#68 Scent of a Vintage Rose

Theme at I ♥ Promarkers - sparkly blingy
Prize - £10 to spend at Joanna Sheen!

Hi all, and I have gone a bit retro with my DT card this week and I have chosen not to go OTT with the bling but rather a softer, more subtle sparkle. This stunningly elegant image is from A Day for Daisies and I went for  a colour palette which I thought suited the era perfectly (well, I remember a dress my mother had of my grandmothers and just had to try to interpret that with my Promarkers). LOL.  I also chose to give this particularly stylish image a Marcel wave in her auburn hair peeking from under her fashion-conscious cloche hat as it seemed just perfect for her.

The sparkle of her hat & the image's mat.

To some extent, this card is kind of the best of both worlds - a square card and a shaped card - helped perhaps by the Art Deco theme and it's strong geometry.  For the square elements I used the sketch over at A Day for Daisies itself which seemed to lend itself perfectly to the image I had chosen. As for the obligatory 'bling' today,  the most obvious are the gems - the ones at the corners of the image and the 3 at the very top were all clear but recoloured with Promarkers but I kept the larger ones in their clear state.  The larger mat behind the image was dosed with Crafter's Companion Spray & Sparkle and I cut holes in a spare bit of card & sprayed  on the centre of the flowers in the long horizontal paper (not showing up well in the photo unfortunately). I also paper pieced the rose bloom and the entirety of her cloche hat (also both coated with the spray) which luckily does glisten in the photo to some extent.

There is a more subtle sheen to the base card itself as I used a gently pearlescent card stock to create the shaped card and I used the Sophisticated border bar from the Glitter Girls to emboss the Deco shapes either side of the image.

Well, we hope you Promarker fans will play along with us this week to create your own sparkly blingy project and (Blogger permitting!!!), hope to be able to leave you a comment.

Tine :)
