Challenges: Flutterby Wednesday
Simon Says Stamp
I only came across the FBW Blog Challenge and the Simon Says Stamp one on Sunday afternoon and just had to play along, especially as they both specified 'something with wings'.
Onto my mats of black, purple and then silver mirri card, I have printed my own background paper - created from several images, including one with butterflies on it from a MCS CD Rom. These have been overlaid on top of one another and I then added a rectangle behind the top layer. This was not only because it was part of the design criteria but I think it helps to give the impression that the fairy is looking through a ‘magical window’ in the forest around her. This was then printed out and matted onto the base.
The fairy herself is a stamp from Kanban, coloured with Promarkers, and her wings are glittered with Stickles. The wings themselves have been made in 3 layers, pink paper ones stuck onto the underside of the next layer which is in white card and given a Stickled edge. The top layer of wings is in matching paper to the background and has Stickles drawn onto them to denote the pattern on the wings. I made the wings in several layers as I was hoping to achieve the effect of them fluttering. Not entirely sure that it works, but that was the idea! The fairy is sat on a strip of black and silver card to look though the ‘window’ and is used for the horizontal elements on the design page. The three circles from the design spec I have interpreted not at the bottom of the card but at the top of the card as you can see, and I decided to use 3 flat-backed beads which reminded me of pearl ladybirds (obviously enchanted pearly ladybirds!).
Hope you all like my contribution to the Challenges and if you feel able to leave a comment, I would love to read it.
