Phindy's #49 Nana's Pies

Phindy's Challenge theme - humour

Hi everyone, and today's card uses Phindy's adorable 'Nana's Pies'. Doesn't she look like 'grandma' is supposed to? However, in this instance I have made her into a Mother's Day card for a Nan with a wicked sense of humour - or one who infamously gets things wrong in the kitchen & doesn't mind you pointing out her deficiencies. LOL. You know, how much rice pudding would you like, one slice or two? I coloured Nana here with Promarkers adding a bit of black fineliner pen into corners of the lattice top pie on the table, where the smallest of Promarker nibs wouldn't dare to go. I have also paper-pieced her scarf so that she has a nice Paisley design that any grandma of 'a certain age' would be proud of.  The mats behind the image were cut using a Spellbinder's Nestie and layered to create what I hope passes for the edge of a pie. Maybe it is just my over active imagination again & only I can see it. LOL.

I made my own sentiment on the PC and added a punched edge (using a Crop-a-Dile), as if it were a recipe taken out of a folder, and I inked the edges to make it look as if those recipes were well used. In fact all the papers & card (other than the glossy black base card), have been given a good dose of Distress Ink around their edges to add to the 'homely' feel. The punched flower is from Woodware & I gave it a centre of a button (hand sewn on) and placed ribbon behind. The ribbon was some more of that fab white ribbon from FantasticRibbons once again recoloured with my Promarkers to suit the colour scheme.

The 'button' on the inside is made of card, coloured with Promarkers
The punch-line of the sentiment (if you can call it a sentiment?), I popped onto an white insert (with Tim Holtz Distress Ink again around the fancy-cut edges) & with matching papers to the front. The flower on corner of the insert has a central 'button' cut from card and Promarker-ed to make it match the real one on the front but will keep the inside the card flat.

Hope you like it and that you will join in with our challenge this week. We would love it if you could use one of Phindy's images to play along and if you do, just enter your card twice to double your chances of winning.  It isn't necessary to do so though, just keep to the theme, but if you have never visited her store before why not pay a visit as I think she has some fab digis.

Tine :)

Challenges I would like to enter are:
Stamping Sisters in Christ - paper piecing
My Partner in Crafting Crime - buttons
