Phindy’s #43 - Monochrome Dude

Don't think this has happened before - but I have posted three days in succession! You will all be getting fed up with me at this rate. LOL.  For my DT card for Phindy's Place this week I am using 'Connected Boy', - suitably surrounded by technology with his mobile phone in hand and MP3 blasting into his ears.  All he needs now is an XBox at his side & it would be my son to a 'T'. LOL.

The theme of the Challenge this week is to create a monochrome card or project and as you can see, I went for a symphony of blues for my denim clad teenager. The background paper has been torn rather than cut, but this time rather gently for a tiny ruffled torn edge. Now I hope you all appreciate the time it took to make the holes for my faux stitching as I had to do it by hand. My sewing machine just doesn't like running without thread in it so I didn't even bother to try to persuade it otherwise on this occasion, as the last time I did, it objected & started to throw a hissy-fit. It would have been far quicker to sew the thing properly I am sure, but I wanted the hand-stitched look with the relevant gaps in between and consequently had to stab at my card with my 'pokey' tool & hope! LOL.  The fine-liner provided the necessary 'stitches' rather than go for my needle & thread. Yes, I guess I am just as stubborn as my sewing machine, before you say it! LOL.

I coloured my image with Promarkers and then added another row of 'stitches' to the edge. The 'Dude' ticket is one from a selection at sgtstamper.com and was inked, like various other layers of my card, with Denim Distress Ink. I used the same ink to colour my twine too- guess what colour my hands were when I had finished.....LOL.  I cut a couple of blue tabs & inked them up too before adding an eyelet to each one & knotting the twine through, for what I hoped would pass as a rather 'male' embellishment. I then cut a couple of triangular shapes for the image's corners, making one into more of a photo corner by cutting slits into it.

I have used the lovely sketch over at Sketch Saturday, though have shifted things just a tad as my image size & shape dictated - eg, moving the image over a little and popping the 'sentiment' at the other side, so I hope I will be forgiven. :)

Think that is all for today, other than to say that I hope you like my card and that the other girls on the DT & myself have inspired you all to play along with us this week for our monochrome challenge. Don't forget, if you use one of Phindy's images for our challenge you can enter your card/project twice to double your chance of winning. We look forward to seeing your entries.

Tine :)
