‘Ginger Tomasina’

Passion for Promarkers Wk 49 – Sketch and 2 handmade flowers.
The Secret Crafter #80 - Distressing
Creative Craft Challenge - Bloomin' marvellous
Quixotic Challenge #23 - How distressing!

Hi, and for this card I have used an image from My Grafico, the ‘hug a cat’ stamp which, given his stripes, just has to be a ginger tabby! It is this stamp which has influenced the rest of the card, as its the cat's colouring which dictated my other colour choices.

Following the basic guidelines of the sketch, I cut a square of white card & coloured it with Promarkers to match those used for the image and then inked the very edge with a black ink pad. The circle was made in textured card stock and coloured to match in tonally and had its edge distressed with sandpaper to reveal the white beneath. The green horizontal strip was made from the same white textured card as the circle and I used my Promarkers again to turn it the same green as that of the dress to ensure a perfect match. The background is DCWV paper which has its edges inked with distressed ink - the ‘Tea Dye’ colour from Tim Holtz, and this in turn was matted onto black satin cardstock which had its edges distressed with sandpaper too. Behind that is grey card which has also had its edges inked, but this time with black.

As for the two handmade flowers, I wanted to create spiky ones to match the girl’s spiky hair and I needed to look no further than the PFP site for guidance. Weekend Workshop #20 has a great tutorial from Caryn. Following the instructions given in this tutorial, I made two long triangles but for mine, I coloured the narrowest third of the triangle with Promarkers to match the daisies on the image. This meant that when I rolled the ‘flowers’ up they created the colourful centres to match both those on the image and those on the background paper.

Thanks for visiting my blog and I hope you like this week’s card.
