Ava

How's this one for an antidote to all the male creations of the past few weeks! Definitely feminine - well, I hope so! LOL. This one is for a good friend of mine who has a birthday in a couple of weeks - she is positively 'ancient' as she is a whole week & a half older than me, LOL.

Using the adorable Saturated Canary image called 'Ava' (coloured with Promarkers), I created 'oodles' of layers to go onto my pearlescent card-base, created using my Silhouette Cameo to give me a gorgeously lacy feel to add to all the girlishness. For some of these layers I also distressed the edges just a little & as you may have spotted, also paper-pierced, the odd one too.  (Yes, pierced not pieced this time around).

Peeping out behind one of those layers is a tag & even this has lots more layers of it's own. Firstly, I added a frame to it, cutting out the oval middle & then added an initial to layer underneath so it would show through. I then created a layered back for the tag featuring a sentiment - finishing it all off with a nice bit of lace from Fantastic Ribbons.  The layer immediately in front of the tag has foam tape on it to give no only a bit of dimension but also a place for the tag to 'sit' so it stays in the same position until it is taken out.  I then made the three flowers to embellish the front & dotted the 3 clear crystal gems to their allotted corners.

For the inside of my card I layered up once more - though not as many, using matching papers - adding my friend's initial once more, this time to a lightened version of the image so I can write who the card is from over the top of it just before I send it. I then popped on three more flowers as embellishment - but this time 'flat' ones or the card wouldn't close! LOL. The two smaller inner layers of each of these flowers were not cut using the Cameo this time but I got out my now little-used Fiskars punches for those. A couple more gems & voila!

Texting Teen - part two

Matching the card I made in the last post is this money wallet - all ready for a crisp note to be added for my nephew's birthday present.

Again using an image called 'Connected' from Phindy's Place, I coloured this slightly larger & cropped version with my Promarkers at the same time as I coloured the image for the card to ensure that all the colours matched beautifully. As before, I made the frame & multiplicity of other cut-files using my Cameo.

Whilst I then didn't follow the same sketch but 'did my own thing', I did of course use the same set of papers (a combo of Karen Diamond, Queen Bee & LdyMcbeth) & colours so the two items coordinated to make a 2-part set. The t-shirt was similarly paper-pieced & as I was very careful about sizing, I managed to get pattern to scale up perfectly - again, probably says more about me being pernickety rather than a necessity. I don't suppose that my nephew would bother whether it matches or not, let alone anyone else. LOL. As both the card & wallet were constructed at the same time, I had luckily managed to heat emboss a couple of the arrow embellishments before the heat gun found itself consigned to the bin. So annoying when something refuses to work all of a sudden! So on the whole the embossed elements are not as many as they might have been - but these things are sent to try us.

Wallet opened out. Semi-circular cuts to keep the money safe from slipping out - hopefully!

All the layers were popped onto a card base I made with appropriate semi-circular cuts to house the money (thanks to my Cameo again). Not sure how well they show up for you in the photo thanks to the lack of good daylight these wintery days, so you may need to squint at it a little. LOL.

That's it for today then. Another project bites the dust. Which to start next...? So much to do & no time to do it in! LOL.

Texting Teen - part one

Another card for a male but this time a teenager & considering the amount of time they spend on the phone & have their ears permanently hooked into music every time they leave the house, this image seemed just perfect to use on a card for my nephew. It is called ' Connected' & is from Phindy's Place and I coloured him using Promarkers - but paper-pieced his t-shirt.

The papers I chose are a combination of some from LdyMcbeth, Karen Diamond & QueenBee all set into a combination of frames I created using my Silhouette Cameo. I do l-u-r-v-e my Cameo! LOL. Every part of my card is a cut-file & nearly everyone of them on this particular card is a print & cut. As for the basic design, I used the sketch this month at CLP as a guide one but of the required 'layers' I interpreted with faux stitching. Thought it made a bit of a change to read the sketch in this way but meant the digi-stitching overlay had to be added to both the background papers making sure it aligned correctly. It was also recoloured to match my colour-scheme. Not used it in a good while butI actually got out my heat gun and embossed some of the embellishments (buttons & chevrons) but would have done a bit more too had my heat gun not decided to suddenly change the noise it makes - & then a tiny whiff of smoke rose up from the back vents which does seem to suggest that it might well have died on me. :( To compliment the glossy texture of the heat embossing I added a textured cardstock base and also cut the 'loopy' frame design on top of the image from similar cardstock. Not that either the shine or the texture is showing up in the photo very well. LOL.

As for the back of the tent-fold card, I did of course create another gamut of cut files here too - well, it wouldn't be me if there weren't a few more, would it? LOL. (I did a rough count of all the cut-files for this card & got to 17!)  I added my nephew's name to the top and layered up more matching papers on to which I popped a kind of tabbed post-card affair for the sentiment which will allow me to write who it is from on the left-hand side when I am ready to send it.

Donald's birthday

No, not Donald Duck nor even a mouse called Donald - but my father in law, LOL.  I have made this card well in time for his birthday next month - tricky to do a male card when he doesn't drink, like boats or trains and doesn't have any hobbies, so I hope this one fits the bill!

One of the fabulous things about using the Cameo is the personalisation you can create when you make your own cut-files. So, following the sketch over at SSW this week, I did exactly that & added his name around the border of the card front before using the colours from Lisa's 'Bloggers' Challenge' for my paper choices ( the argyle pattern giving an appropriately masculine feel I thought), and chose a fun image of Torico's to colour with my Promarkers. I have to admit I used the whole of the Blogger's Challenge inspirational image - even managing to sneak in the colours outside the central cushion photo for the pile of presents hopefully to show what a fun time his birthday should be - well, it makes sense to me! LOL. Yes, said mouse was made into a cut-file too and I also set him on another oval-shaped one featuring welded diamond shapes to echo those of the argyle print. Completing the cut-files for the card front is the sentiment banner and the ovals & the sentiment were popped onto the card using glue-gel.

For the back of the card yet another cut-file of course, this time just saying 'best wishes' along the border as well as a 'square pattern' to match that on the front of the card. For the insert I kept it simple & uncluttered as probably befits a masculine card.

Boxes, bags and gifts galore.....

Hi everyone!!!! Sorry it's been so long since I last managed to post but with ill health plaguing me, breaking my camera (so when I did manage to make anything I couldn't take a photo for the blog of course) & not to mention Christmas itself being so time-consuming, it just didn't happen. Thanks to all my followers for sticking with me and I would like at this point to send a warm welcome my new followers too. :)

The first gift box I want to share with you all I have just made for my God-daughter's birthday this coming Friday. Made from fabulous gold pearlescent card, I cut out the box using my Cameo & decorated the top with a large flower (actually my poinsettia which I happen to really like, LOL - doesn't look too Christmas-sy when not in traditional Xmas colours in my opinion). Added a bit of personalisation with a tag featuring her initial and embellished with large black Cosmic Shimmer dots to echo the jewellery hiding within. The photo doesn't pick up the dimension of the black dots but I am sure you get the idea.

I created the first version of this particular box as part of a set before Christmas when I made a white variation for my daughter, along with a coordinating bag and matching pillow box. All 3 of which were cut from several different varieties of white card including a pearlescent one for added interest. I do like white on white - sophisticated in a different way to the gold/black combo, though I rather like that too. My daughter kindly lent me them back to me so I could photograph them for you - just a shame other projects I did manage to create including a particularly fun bag had to be sent off as Christmas presents without my being able to take a snapshot of them.

Matching bag this time with glitter glue highlights on the  flower  & gold cord.

I think you can just about see some of the different types of white card on the pillow box.
