For My Daughter
Two posts in as many days! Don't get used to it!!!! LOL.
Back to the 'girly' cards, (much safer territory, LOL) and as you can see by the title, this one is for my daughter. Back too, to the plethora of cut-files which I just love creating. The image, from A Day for Daisies is called 'Birthday Balloons' was chosen by my daughter herself - I put my file of digis up on screen & told her to choose one! LOL. I then got out my Promarkers to colour it in using the photo from 'The Shabby Tea Room' as inspiration. My digi papers printed out a little more blue than they had appeared on screen but that is sadly beyond my control. The required 'brown' element is her hair & I picked out the pinky undertones of that brown for a couple of balloons to 'lift' it slightly, if you know what I mean. That said, I do happen to see pinky tones in the photo in the shadows of the cyclamen - but that could just be my imagination or dodgy eyesight! LOL
The sketch I decided to use this time around is from 'Sketch 'n' Stash' which I thought pretty versatile & would lend itself to my style of crafting - or at least to me making loads of cut-files for it. :) There is one cut-file which I didn't create & that was the border strip which is from svgcuts. The rest - the card base itself, the 'daughter' fretwork & mat, etc are all my own. The cutting around the balloon strings I wouldn't have dared do by hand but having tweeked the nodes around them to give me a tad more space, my Cameo didn't let me down. The card base and some of the layers, were cut from my favourite pearlescent card and even more sparkle & shine comes from the silver mirri board mats.
More cut-files too for the back/inside of my card, layered up to complement the front design rather than copying it & I added a sentiment to my oval centrepiece leaving me enough room to write at the bottom later. I didn't replicate the pearls that are on the front exactly either - opting for tiny circles cut from my pearlescent card but coloured using Promarkers for no other reason that it means the inside of the card is then more or less flat whilst still giving the same overall effect.
Thanks visiting my blog and thank you for taking the time to leave me a comment.
Tine :)

A Monsterously Good Birthday
Well I am giving CAS (clean & simple) another go, as you can see & what is more, I am back to making cards for males in my life. Always a little tricky to do as you know, I have gone all 'monster' as I reckon monsters & dinosaurs etc. are fairly 'safe' territory image-wise. This card uses part of an image from A Day for Daisies called 'Monster Chris', (image name totally co-incidental I might add, as it bears no resemblance to my good self - at least I hope not! LOL) & I have my chosen monster peeping out of his circular mat. I have of course, used my Promarkers to colour him in.
Having layered my selected Spring-coloured papers in a simplistic kind of way as befits a CAS card, added a hopefully appropriate circular sentiment I created myself to go with the image. My beloved Cameo did the honours for my shapes (which having made the shapes I wanted used & found the relevant papers, used the print & cut feature).
Unlike my last CAS card, I managed to keep the insert very simplistic too, opting for just a 'plain' paper one. Yes, not quite entirely 'plain' as I added a row of 'Monster Chris' at the top edge and a subtle larger version for the area I will eventually handwrite the 'to & from' on. The added sentiment hopefully matches my papers too.
Yep, as you can see I also made this card twice - well, this is my busiest time of year for birthdays! LOL.
Thanks for dropping by,
Tine :)

As If I Could Forget.....
No, this one isn't titled this way because I forgotten a birthday - but I can't easily forget it as the recipient, my nephew, celebrates the day after mine in March. LOL. Wouldn't this adorable image work so well for a 'sorry I forgot' card too, with this cute two-some from Elizabeth Dulemba? I had great fun colouring the elephant with my Promarkers, masking the image to give him a blue background with my airbrush. I do love colouring!!!! That and creating my cut-files - could do it all day if I could. All I need is to get paid to do it & I would 'have it licked' as they say! LOL. The tiny mouse is coloured in similar colours as his larger friend to make them a perfect pair & I cut my image having added a printable 'stitch'.
The layout I chose for my card is from Tuesday Morning Sketches and as you can see, is rather CAS (Clean & Simple) compared to a lot of my cards. Does you good to mix it up a bit though, doesn't it? LOL I chose clean, fresh Spring-like papers (how's that for optimism? LOL) & having made my vertical 'banner' cut file, again used the print & cut feature. I also used the Silhouette Studio software to create my sentiment.

I ♥ U
I had so many ideas as to how to make my Valentine's card for my OH that I was finding it difficult to decide which to use. In the end, I created a whole new set of cut files (any excuse, I know, LOL), using my Cameo to create my 'I ♥ U' shaped card and added an image from Precious Moments too.
I coloured my chosen image with Promarkers (as I always do, LOL) and added it to my specially constructed shaped base, layering up with a heart design paper too. To this paper I added a row of paper-piercing, this time adding 'stitches' to it with a fineliner pen. I even managed to squeeze in a bit of paper-piecing too - on his bow-tie, again a paper with tiny hearts all over it.
The reverse - showing the 'restrained' (& heart embellished) stand. |
Hope you have a great week, everyone.
