Phindy's #57 Scoops

Theme at Phindy's Place - Summer Living

Hi everyone, and my card today uses the adorable image 'Scoops of Love' from Phindy's store and as ever, I have coloured her with my trusty Promarkers.  However, there is a bit of difference today as I have 'extended' the image with a hand-drawn ice-cream - making it a slightly melting triple-scoop to echo the one in the image itself and before I put marker to paper, I hand embossed the diamond shapes of the ice-cream cone. I kept it as a pencil image rather than using a fine liner or turning it into a digi image as I wanted to keep a more transient quality - after all, it is something she is supposedly thinking about, not what is meant to be there, if you know what I mean.  That done, I coloured the cone but as I was decoupaging the top 2 layers of 'ice-cream', I re-drew those scoops separately before colouring them in, cutting them out and layering it all up. I just had to colour it as Cream of Cornish as that is my favourite. Boring maybe but sooo creamy! LOL.

So you can see the layers of ice cream & the cone more easily.

As you can see, I used 3 papers for the background (sky, sea & beach) but I gently tore the lower edge of my 'sea' paper for the rippling breaking waves. You might have to zoom in to see this more easily mind you.  For the ripples in the sand I used the sewing machine on the sand coloured paper. There is one more design paper though and that is for her paper pieced hot pants. The sentiment (and who wouldn't want loads of ice-cream?), is from Scrapalicious and mounted with it's coordinating mats using foam pads.

There are so many ways of interpreting the 'Summer Living' theme - image, colours or both, so I hope that you will be able to join in with our challenge this week. As ever, you don't have to use one of Phindy's images to enter, but if you do, you are rewarded by being allowed to enter a second time thereby doubling your chances of winning!  Hope to see you there.

Tine :)

#67 Louis and the Daisies

Theme at I ♥ Promarkers - pearls
This week's prize sponsor - Digi Doodle

Now, it might well be not be your first thought when going to use pearls on a card - to use an image of a dragon, but there again, why not?  Especially when for me I used palest blue pearls which I just happen to see as dragon scales. Nowt wrong with a vivid imagination surely?!?! LOL. The dragon in question is this cutie from our sponsors this week, Digi Doodle going by the name of 'Louis & the Daisies'.  Have you not seen those eye lashes? Should he not be 'Louise' rather than 'Louis'? LOL.

Coloured with Promarkers, of course, I have used a glorious backing paper from Barely Mine featuring daisies  in conjunction with some spotted embossed card (courtesy of a Cuttlebug folder), and a daisy festooned ribbon from my stash. The sentiment is yet another gem from Paulette at TLC.

If you would like to play along with us this week, just add pearls to your card or project - as well as using Promarkers it surely goes without saying.  LOL.  Hope you can join us.

Tine :)

#66 A Pain in the Neck

Theme at I ♥ Promarkers – Animals
Prize Sponsor – Crafty Emma

Hi, and for my card for this week’s DT assignment I have used an image from Digi Doodle called ‘Baby Giraffe’ available with and without his poorly neck (all together now, aw…LOL).  I chose to make it all quite stylised with a something of a vibrant colour choice of backing papers I suppose considering he is a giraffe, but I hope you pick up from them clear blue skies, the parched earth, luscious leaves and the white heat of his African home - well, it makes sense to me! LOL.

If you too love using Promarkers and can think of an animal image to colour, why not join in with our challenge this week & we look forward to seeing your creations.

Tine :)

Phindy's #55 Anniversary Wishes

Blogger is back. Better late than never! Here is today's posting. :)

Phindy's Challenge this week - two cards, one image.

Hi all, and the DT at Phindy's are all making two cards using one image and I chose to use Phindy's 'Love Birds'. (If you are interested, they also come as a wedding couple complete with bow tie & veil called 'Love Birds Wedding'.) As it is a double posting out of necessity it is a bit more complicated to skim read so please bear with me...  :)

So then, for my first card I went with shaped card (don't know what this particular shape is called, but one side folds under the other), and with a large tag which pulls out of the central area. I used faintly pearlescent cardstock as a base and then liberally spritzed bright white card with Crafter's Companion Spray & Sparkle for the panelling. The main image on the tag, I coloured with Promarkers choosing to make the birds like small white doves and then cut myself a heart-shaped mat out to shield the image whilst I sprayed the surrounding area with glitz before rounding the corners off. I embellished with fab Woodware punched flowers, also made from card spritzed with the Spray & Sparkle and a fab ribbon from Fantastic Ribbons. The reverse is for the 'To' & 'From'.

The tri-fold outer card has a front panel featuring a circular sentiment from Sentiments4You and into the centre I pieced in a smaller repetition of the main image also coloured with Promarkers and mounted this onto the card using foam pads. The other front panel has matching flowers to the tag as does the back panel which also features a sentiment I created on the PC, setting ribbon behind it to act as a closure at the front.

Reverse of main card.

Challenges I am entering this card into:
One Stitch At A Time - fancy folds
Crazy 4 - flowers
Tip Top - flower frenzy
Stamping Sisters in Christ - beautiful
Creative Inspirations - glitzy & bling
Papertake - use a punch (Woodware floral, Fiskars for middle of flowers, corner rounder)
Crafts & Me - punches
Dutch Dare - things with wings
Sentimental Sundays - anything goes

For my second card I made the two birds a lot more colourful, colouring them with Promarkers to look like Blue Tits, a avian favourite of mine & frequent visitors to my garden. I then printed off a larger version of the image to create the flower embellishments for total coordination. The punched border was made with a Fiskar's punch.

Challenges I am entering this card into:
Crazy 4 - flowers
Tip Top - flower frenzy
Everybody Art - flowers
Stamping Sisters in Christ - beautiful
Papertake - use a punch (Fiskars border punch)
Crafts & Me - punches
Dutch Dare - things with wings
Kaboodle Doodles - layers
Stamp Challenges - anything goes

Have a great day everyone & happy crafting!

Tine :)

#65 Pink & Brown

Theme at I ♥ Promarkers - Pink & Brown
Prize Sponsor- Robyn's Fetish

Hi everyone, and my DT card today uses an image from our sponsor this week, Robyn's Fetish called 'My First Haircut', an image of an apprehensive porker in the barber's chair. LOL. Having coloured my image with Promarkers I then paper pieced the gown to tone in with the digi paper background which I had  taken from a Create & Craft CD & recoloured to fit in with our colour-way challenge this week. I then topped it all off with a fun sentiment from Scrapalicious which I put into a circle and gave a 'hairdo' of it's own from tousled jute string.

I would love it if any other Promarker fans could join in with us this week. Just remember that your card or project has to be pink & brown this week. See you there!

Phindy's #54 Tasty Flakes

Phindy's Challenge #54 theme - embossing

Hi, and my card today features Phindy's 'Tasty Flakes' and I set her in a circular scene of snow laden skies and crisp fallen snow. I coloured her & her background with Promarkers, paper piecing her complete matching ensemble. The theme of this week's challenge at Phindy's Place is to use some form of embossing on your card or project. I couldn't resist doing both dry & wet embossing for this my first Christmas card of the year.

Having created my own backing paper by colouring white card to resemble something like heavy snow clouds with my Promarkers, I then popped this card into an embossing folder to create the dotty background to represent falling snow. The lower half of the card is torn white card with embossed edges using Heat It Up's Snowflake & Clear embossing powders for sparkling & glistening snow drifts. I then edged around various torn edges with paint to give the idea of tiny snow drifts including one around the sentiment which is one from Paulette at TLC. In case anyone is interested, the totally gorgeous ribbon with the tiny beads on is from Fantastic Ribbons.

We would love it if you could join in with us this week, and don't forget, if you use one of Phindy's images to play along with us to enter your card into the challenge twice to double your chances of winning.

Until next time.

Tine :)

#64 Electric Guitar

This week's theme at I ♥ Promarkers: Song Title
Prize - £10 gift voucher from Joanna Sheen

For my DT card today I chose to use this amazing digi from Kenny K called 'Groove Dude' to illustrate my song title, that of Electric Guitar by Chris Brown & of course, he has been coloured with Promarkers. The background papers are from Barely Mine & I added to the distressed feel with Frayed Burlap & Tea Dye Distress Inks around the torn edges. The 'spotlights' were also distressed with a black ink pad after holes had been pierced into them & then bling added to them. The 3 lines representing guitar strings are actually recycled crochet thread (I took apart a crochet flower I had made but wasn't keen on, ironed it flat again & coloured it with black Promarker, LOL). The whole lot is on a background base of holographic card for more bling.

I could think of soo many song titles that I could have used, narrowing it down to just one was a dilemma. I am sure you can think of loads you could use yourself, so why not join in with our challenge this week. Hope to see you there!

Tine :)
